Learning Journal Articles

Learning Committee Function and Objectives

The Learning Committee was organized in 2005 to build upon the commercial development expertise resident within the CDMA membership and promote learning and cross-pollination of ideas; the intent is for members to share information and best practices on topics related to new business creation through innovation. The Committee is pursuing the learning objectives in two ways:

Organizing and chairing one of the Sessions in the Fall and Spring meetings. This Learning Session features experienced industry leaders, discussing actual business cases with a common overarching theme, in an interactive-friendly setting.

Maintaining the interactive learning process between meetings by means of an electronic journal, which will contain papers on timely business and commercial development topics, written by CDMA volunteers. This is consistent with CDMA’s objective to help members grow their companies through continuous learning and networking.

The committee hopes to have three issues a year with at least two articles in each issue. We encourage you to pass the newsletter to colleagues in your organization involved in new business development.  We welcome comments on the articles and hope that you will consider submitting your own article for future publications.

CDMA Learning Journal – General Information and Submission Guidelines for Articles

Authors will retain copyright to their articles, receive acknowledgement of authorship with a “by line” (anticipated to include position title, affiliation, contact information), and will give CDMA the royalty-free right to reproduce and distribute their article within the CDMA electronic journal and website.

Journal articles will educate with concepts important to business practices for long-term growth and value creation for companies using chemistry platforms to serve existing and new markets. Articles will target novice as well as advanced “students” of commercial development, which include current members, employees of corporate sponsors, and potential new CDMA members.

Journal articles are anticipated to discuss or explore important concepts in a clear and enjoyable fashion, focusing on real business conditions or situations, and including case histories, specific examples, and take-aways broadly applicable. Examples of topics to be covered include opportunity identification, early stage valuation, technical management & development, business and market development & management, financing, and intellectual property.

Interested authors are invited to submit a 250 word abstract
